A look at our Soul

Norm

Welcome to my blog on a Theory of God. Let me emphasis again that this is just what I believe. I am not asking anybody else to believe the theory. I am sharing it because I think others may find value in it and because I think it’s a paradigm that could bring peace.

There are seven sessions planned, so far;

1. An Introduction to the Theory of God

2. Where is God?

3. A look at our soul.

4. What did God Create?

5. Social Issues through the lens of the Theory of God.

6. How did I get here?

7. The Theory of God Hate-loss program.

In the first session, an introduction to my Theory of God was presented.

The second session covered ‘Where is God’. Considering; if God is present, why can’t we see God?

This session, the third session, will look at the soul. From the perspective of the Theory of God, souls are not binary and through our choices, we are in control of it.

The fourth session explores creation. What did God create; one blue planet, or a vast universe? Did God tune the strings that made it all work?

The fifth session explores social issues through the lens of the Theory of God.

The sixth session covers how I came up with the theory, and why I am sharing it now.

The seventh session will look at forms of love and hate to help steer us away from hateful behaviors.

I hope you find the theory compatible with your own beliefs and thought provoking. I’d love to hear what you think of the theory.

This session begins with the question; “What is the Soul?” I expect everybody has their own view on the soul. Many don’t believe in the soul at all. That's ok. It’s all good. I believe my soul is both God and evil, and by the choices I make in life, I am in control of both the size and hue. I can build it bigger by living life to its fullest and more beautiful by being loving. I believe everybody is in control of the size and hue of their soul through the choices they make.

But before considering the soul, first I must begin, again, with the disclaimer that this is ‘My’ Theory of God because it’s what ‘I’ believe. I don’t own it. If you like the theory, it’s yours, too. I am NOT a religious scholar nor am I a saint. So, I am not sharing this theory from a position of authority or some moral higher ground. This is simply my paradigm of God, for your consideration.

I have, for the most part, kept my Theory of God to myself for the last 40+ years because it is my personal belief. I have chosen to share it now because I think there may be value in it for others, whether they are affiliated with a religious organization or not, and because I think it’s a paradigm that could bring peace.

The theory is based on the premise that God is real. To me that means that God exists even if all the religious text did not. God does not exist because men wrote about God in ancient texts. The texts were written because God exists. Which is why my Theory of God had to be independent of the ancient texts.

To reiterate, the theory is that God is a sentient force in dimensions that overlap ours. In other words, God is here.

God seeks the senses of life and is the soul of life. ALL life.

No two souls are alike. It’s not ‘You have one or you don’t’. Souls vary in size and hue and change over the course of our life. Our life choices and our actions establish the size and hue of our own soul.

I believe there is symmetry in nature and that Evil, the symmetrical force of God, also exists.

To reiterate the benefits of the theory; It emphasizes the common ground that all religions share. They share that common ground because God was present LONG before religions were established. If God, by any name, is the common ground of all religions, people should accept that different religions are just culturally different ways of connecting with God. One is not better than another. It’s just a different means to the same end. So, there should be mutual respect among various religions.

I believe my Theory of God is NOT in conflict with ANY of the world’s religions. As I see it, It can’t be. God is at the core of all religions.

I think the theory provides an understanding that enables anybody to build a closer relationship with God individually or through organized religion. I believe organized religions already teach and practice the behaviors that help people connect with God. But there are simple things that anyone can do every day that enables each of us to do our own part to make the world a better place.

It also gives a deeper appreciation for all life on earth. And I use the theory as the basis by which I assess contemporary social issues such as capital punishment and abortion, which will be considered further in the fifth session. It also has given me a new perspective on death.

To me, those are valuable benefits. So, despite my reticence to sharing my own personal beliefs, if there is ANY chance that this could make the world a better place, I feel obligated to share. So, my beliefs are offered here for your consideration. I hope you find the theory compatible with your beliefs and enlightening.

A Look at our Soul

As a sentient force, God is universal. But is God everywhere? I believe God seeks the senses of life, so that is where we should expect to find God. Not in interstellar space. There is no life out there. It’s like gravity. There is no mass in interstellar space, so there is no gravity. There is no life in interstellar space, so God is not present.

I believe God is the soul of life, so let’s consider ‘The Soul’.

Are all souls the same?

I believe no two souls are the same in size or hue.

Souls are not binary; it’s not you have one or you don’t.

It IS, what you make of it.

Do dogs have a soul? Ask any dog owner what they think. Even people that have been taught that animals don’t have a soul, may struggle with accepting that their dog is soulless.

Do cats have souls? Ask any cat owner what they think. Again, even people that have been taught that animals don’t have a soul, may struggle with accepting that their cat is soulless.

How about Llamas, and Elephants, and dolphins, and every other creature on the planet? Is there some line where we go “Nope. Not below this line”?

How about Praying Mantis’s and other bugs? Do they have a soul? There is probably nobody (but me) that thinks they do. But how do you know they don’t? Have you ever tried to get to know one? I have. I’ve been testing my theory for 40+ years, remember, so of course I have. And I have had some VERY interesting interactions with bugs. I have NO doubt there is something there.

According to my Theory of God, a soul is not binary. It’s not ‘you have one or you don’t’.

The size and hue vary infinitely. So, the soul of a bug is not even close to the soul of a human, or a cat or dog or dolphin or whatever. But, in my opinion, God IS in all life which is why I appreciate all life so much.

But to me the big benefit of the Theory of God, isn’t the appreciation of life. It’s what we can do to enrich our own lives, to shape our own soul, and in the process make the world around us a better place to live. So the focus of this session is our human souls.

I believe the soul is both good, or God, and evil, or the devil, and that no two Souls are ever the same size OR hue.

Growing up, my family provided love and guided me, but during adolescence I chose what kind of person I wanted to be. I imagine it’s the same for most people. We’re not stuck with those adolescent choices, of course. We make choices every day. I believe that our soul is what we make it to be based on those choices.

Do you watch for opportunities to lend a hand, or do you ignore people, or look for every opportunity to take advantage of others? Those choices help establish the hue.

Do you live a full and exciting life, or spend all of your time playing video games or watching TV to see what ‘interesting or glamorous people’ do? That helps establish the size.

There is an infinite range of hue and size of each soul. And the choices we make determine what our soul looks like.

I believe God is love in all its forms; caring, sharing, empathy, respect and many more.

And I believe evil is hate in all of its forms; Prejudice, dishonesty, cheating, contempt and many more.

And that no two souls are alike. Some are loving, caring people. Some are conniving, not to be trusted. And some are just there. Not helping, not hurting, not doing much of anything. Just killing time.

We choose to be the person we want to be.

Our life choices determine the size of our soul.

Are you loving and living a full life? Or not?

Do you get out and really take in all that life has to offer?

Or not?

Do you look out for others in everyday life?

Have you devoted your life to the betterment of others?

Or are you singularly focused on yourself?

Or willing to kill thousands or millions to go down in history as a ‘great’ man?

like Hitler and Putin.

I believe we choose to be the person we want to be. Our actions, our choices, throughout the day, and throughout our lives builds our soul. We can build it big, or medium, or small. We can color it good or bad or no color at all.

Since our actions, our choices, throughout the day, and throughout our lives builds our soul

I believe that means each of us is in control of our own soul. We are building our soul.

We can grow closer to God through our choices, or not.

I think respect is a foundation. Or perhaps THE foundation? I’m not sure. But it’s important.

I try to avoid hate. I can read about it in the news. It can be rampant on social media, especially with the help from Russian psych-ops and others that want to promote hate. But hate can come in much more subtle forms such as prejudice and disrespect.

I try to look out for others. I particularly enjoy reactions to unexpected kindness.

If you choose to devote your life to the betterment of others you are either an angel or a saint in my book. Thank you!

Unfortunately, God’s symmetrical or opposite force, evil is also a choice.

We can be disrespectful of people and life. We can promote hate, lie, cheat, attack others and

live for self-aggrandizement. If you choose to, you can have a very big and ugly soul.

So why does it matter? If you can choose either, good or bad, to build a big soul, why choose good? Especially when it often looks so much easier and profitable to choose bad.

I believe karma is a consequence of my Theory of God. In other words, ‘What goes around comes around’.

If you treat others poorly, you should expect to be treated poorly. The worse you are as a person, the worse your life gets. Conversely, if you treat people well, you will be treated well. And the more you do to share love the more joy you will be surrounded by. It’s a choice. What do you want coming back on you? Do you want love and joy around you, or hate and despair? The theory would say; It’s your choice.

This gives us two ways to tune the hue of our soul. Lean into love and lose the hate. I’m not talking about anything monumental. Just simple stuff like being respectful of others, even those with whom we disagree, looking out for others, even strangers or other drivers on the road, surprise somebody with kindness, every day if you can. The other way to tune the hue of the soul is to lose hate in all of it forms. Again, it is simple stuff like not being disrespectful. Losing contempt. Being honest. All of these are choices that we can make every day to make our soul the hue we desire and make the world a better place in the process.

There are countless forms of love and hate. I think there might be a lot to be learned from considering the various forms. Which words represent a form of love? Which represent a form of hate? And how good or bad are they? Sort of a litmus test of good and evil. That will be the topic of session 7. I certainly don’t have all the answers, and everybody has their own scale of how good or bad something is, so I hope to engage readers in the forum so we can teach and learn as a community.

In the next session, session 4, I will share what I think God created. It’s a lot more than one little blue planet.
